The Rock is a graduate of the University of Miami (where he won a football national
championship in 1991), he is a third-generation wrestler, the grandson of the late "High
Chief" Peter Maivia, and the son of former WWF tag team champion Rocky Johnson. After
graduating The Rock signed with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League
but decided that pro-wrestling was his calling and so signed with the WWF in 1996.

He began his wrestling career in the now defunct United States Wrestling Association where
the WWF sent its wrestlers for seasoning going by the name of Flex Kavana and debuted
with the WWF at the 1996 Survivor Series at Madison Square Garden. Rocky Maivia won
his first title, the Intercontinental Championship but despite his potential his babyface
character didn't win the fans over. In 1997 he was put out of action by a knee injury and
during his absence he transformed himself returning with a new no-nonsense attitude and a
new name, The Rock. He then became leader of a heel stable known as The Nation which
included D-Lo Brown, Mark Henry, Kama Mustafa and Owen Hart.

Following the disbanding of The Nation The Rock became one of the WWF's top singles
wrestlers or as he puts it, "The most electrifying man in sports entertainment." He displayed
incredible talent on the microphone developing catchphrases like, "Roody Poo Candy Ass,"
and "Know Your Role and Shut Your Mouth." He also became the youngest ever champion
in the history of the WWF winning the title for the first time at the 1998 Survivor Series,
defeating Mankind in the finals of the tournament.

Although he initially won the title as a heel as Vince McMahon's Corporate Champion he was
beginning to win the crowd over. The Rock headlined Wrestlemania 15, one of the most
successful pay-per-views of all time against the most successful wrestler of all time "Stone
Cold" Steve Austin. He lost the match and with it the title but he would ultimately benefit
from this by the McMahon corporation severing ties with The Rock leaving him to become
arguably the greatest face wrestler of all time.

The Rock has appeared on many main stream talk shows and TV shows and has released an
autobiography entitled "The Rock Says." He has the ability to grab the attension of the crowd
unlike any other wrestler in the history of the industry because he is the people's champion
and when he is on the scene you best "know your role and shut your mouth."
