Britney = Snob Smash Hits Magazine August 2002

For the second time this year, fans waiting to catch a glimpst of Britney Spears accuse the pop princess of snubbing them!

A word of advice, Britney. When fans line the street where you'll be making an appearance, stop and say hi. They're not asking for muchj - a wave, a smile, an autograph or two. Surely it makes sense that if you want them to keep buying your music, you'll keep them onside.

Instead, hundreds of fans waited in the rain for over two hours to cheer on the pop star and new restaurant owner as she arrived for the opening of her New York eatery, Nyla, only to be ignored by Britney.

"I think it's a little insulting that she didn't come over and at least say 'Hi'," was what one onlooker had to say about the singer's poor showing. Not only was the star an hour late to the event, but she chose to stop and speak to reporters rather than greet the waiting crowds.

The opening of Nyla, which serves a menu influences by Britney's southern upbringing and personal taste, is the second time this year Brit has angered fans. The other occasion was at the premiere of Crossroads in London when British fans were given the cold shoulder.

Britney better watch her step from now on. As one put-out fan complained, "We've been waiting here for hours in this rain to see Britney, and she does this to us. Time to move on to the next Ameircan idol perhaps."
