Hey Brits! What's it like being called a sex symbol?
It's very flattering but I'm just being me. A girl would lie if she said she didn't like to feel sexy. We all do!

Can you still be sexy... and religious?
Yes! I grew up going to church and I still pray at night. I go if I have time but I usually work Sundays. I don't think God will punish me. I try to be a good person and I think he understands the situation.

We're loving your leather look- do you feel sexier about it?
I like leather- the whole rocker thing! Maybe it's silly! My fashion changes- one week I wear soft colours and the next week I want strong hard colours.

How's it feel to be going with Justin, pop's sexiest dude?
I didn't say we're going out.. and he didn't either! We're not boyfriend and girlfriend. That's someone who sends you roses. You see him every day and talk to him every night. But we just hang out sometimes. We are... (long pause) I don't know what we are!

Why have you followed Jessica Simpson and said you're still a virgin?
Probably because of stories my friends have told me. I learned that once you make that bond all these emotions get involved and there's all this confusion. How long will I wait? I want to make sure it's the right person. Especially for a girl, I think that's important. I would definitely want to wait until I'm married.

Did you spew when your ex-boyfriend, Greg, sold his story to the newspapers?
If that's what he wants to do, that's fine. If that's what makes him happy. Personally, I wish it was kept more private, but people make mistakes.

Speaking of stories, tell us about your new book!
It's a good read! I read it on my way here and I was like, "Oh, I said all this? Cool!" It has pictures from the Mickey Mouse Club too. But there's some serious stuff. It takes about the importance of having a good relationship with your mum. I think that's why some teenagers turn to drugs and things. It's their escape- they don't talk to their mum.

Is it scary that fans look up to you?
Yeah. I make mistakes like anyone and I don't want teenagers to feel they should make that mistake too. I don't like the responsibility of being considered a role model- I'm just human.

What did your mum say when you moved out of home?
It's been hard for her to realise I don't need her as much. Mothers always want to be needed! But I still need her. Nothing is like my mum's voice when I feel bad. She trusts me and we have a great relationship.

At 18, how's it feel to be all 'grown up' ?
I used to worry what others thought. I'm not suddenly grown up, but over time I've realised if you're happy with yourself, it doesn't matter what others think. You can't please everyone.

But as a pop star, don't you need to please everyone?
Success is sometimes harder than failure because people expect so much more and you have a responsibility to yourself to make everything perfect.

Is there any music you hate?
I have respect for all music but I don't jam to opera, that's one thing I wouldn't find myself putting on!

Where do you want to be in five years?
I'd like to do a film and heaps of number one albums like Madonna has done! It's really cool what she done with her career. 

What kind of films?
Maybe something like Grease or even something that has nothing to do with music at all- like a comedy with Brad Pitt! (Hm...wonder what Jennifer Aniston would think about that!)

* During her appearance on US comedy show Saturday Night Live, Britney had the audience in hysterics when she donned a pair of revolving plastic breasts!
* Britney keeps a journal and writes every chance she gets, on planes, cars and often in the bath tub.
