Big screen Britney? TV HITS Magazine July 2000 Issue #143

She could have any movie roles she wanted – but Britney’s got bigger plans…

Having Britney appear in any TV show or movie would be awesome for her fans and the TV and movie bigwigs, but it looks a long way off as far as Brits herself is concerned. Why? Erm, well, she doesn’t think she’s successful enough as a singer yet! Um, has she looked at her track record recently?! It’s hardly shabby – Baby One More Time has sold 20 million copies worldwide and Oops! I Did It Again sold over a million in its first week!

“My world tour has started and it’ll run through the US for four months,” explains Brit,” then Europe four five weeks and Australia hopefully. I’d like to take some vacation there – I’ve heard it’s beautiful.”

So movies are taking a back seat to tours, recording and interviews for now. However, she’s had plenty of offers. So far Brits has turned down a remake of Dirty Dancing (with Ricky Martin) and was rumoured to be considering Grease 3 (which *NSYNC’s Justin was also up for!).

And the TV deals look unlikely now, too – although, Britney did fuel the Dawson’s rumours by saying, “I won’t play someone mean, and I won’t play myself!”

Thankfully for all us Brit fans, she still loves the thrill of TV, so her guest hosting of Saturday Night Live was a rare chance to see the pop dream on the screen.. we’ll just have to wait for more action!
