THE HORSE'S MOUTH
TV Hits Magazine (Australia) February 2000 Issue #138

Love is something everyone has in common - even the celebs!

* where the stars tell it like it is! *

Hey TV Hitsters, Howie D here! With love in the star and Valentine's Day just around the corner, I thought I'd share some of my dating disasters!

I can't believe I'm telling you about my worst dating experiences ever! Fortunately, in general, they've been pretty good. I have known some reall nice girls, so I don't have that much bad stuff to report. I hope I don't bore you!

If I had to pick out some of my bad dating experiences, I would say that among the worst the worst was this girl I met in Europe who didn't speak very much English. She was Italian and we had a lot of miscommunications over dinner - I don't think the waiter understood her and neither did I! I was afraid she would wind up with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich instead of what she really wanted! We went out a couple of times and keep in touch occasionally ow.

Another time I dated someone who seemed like a really fun person when I met her, but then she turned out to be boring. This has happened to me a few times. Maybe she was really shy or nerbous around me, but there was no need to be boring... I think I'm pretty easy to get along with! Generally, I'll give someone a second chance. I mean, I know - like everyone - that first dates with anyone can be really nerve-wracking. You're always afraid of putting your foot in your mouth!

Other bad experiences include me falling on my butt when I was tossing some coins in a fountain - so much for romance! - and walking around after dinner with something green from ym Chinese food caught in my front teeth! I wish the girl had told me!

There's more! Once I left my wallet at home, which looks really cheesy. The girl probably think you're trying to get her to pay for the date! You must turn around and go get it instead of borrowing money from your date!

Another time, I ran into an ex-girlfriend when I was out with a new girl and the new girl looked peeved - I think she should have acted a little more nonchalant. That turned me off a little, it wasn't like I was saying, "Bye, I wanna take off with my ex!"

Still another time, I was walking through the park with this girl and some fans came up to me and screamed. I love our fans, but it made me feel uncomfortable on my date. I want to come across as a regular guy!

My worst ever date was when I was kissing a girl and a piece of molar fell out. I was like, "Excuse me, there's something in my mouth that feels weird!" The girl was probably thinking I was making an excuse not to kiss her any more, or that I thought she had bad breath or something.

At least my dentist got some business that day. Strangely enough, he told me a few patients have come to him with that same problem. Go figure! I thought I was unique!
