Beaver Day

Before we begin, we would first and foremost like to welcome all the new scouts that have joined our troop this spring. All of you are in for an experience of a lifetime.

For years we have not been to Mt. Allamuchy Boy Scout Camp as participants in the Beaver Day activities. Therefore this year we return there to work on our site 13 that we camp at each summer. The day will be spent cleaning up the site and getting it ready for summer camp. Those scouts who have not been to the camp yet, this is an exciting time of the year in camp. After we work on cleaning up the site, we will have time to work on scouting skills and for the scouts to get ahead in their advancement. We will also get a chance to use our bikes to do some serious mountain biking in camp during the weekend.

In April we also have our annual fundraiser, which is the Lee Rue Program. This is our only fundraiser during the year. We ask all scouts to attend the program on the 10th of April. Instead of the usual meeting place, the program will be at Valleyview school. The time is the same as our regular meeting hours.

In May we return to 10 Mile River Scout Camp for our Canoe Trip. Those scouts who do not have the canoe and swimming merit badges will not be allowed down the river. However throughout the day, they will work on advancement and skills at the campsite. Therefore this should be a fun time for all participants.

June is once again near, and so is our now annual Rafting trip. All family members are invited on this trip, and this is always lots and lots of fun for all attending. Please make sure you take time to come along for this fun family outing.

Do you have any ideas for Troop Meetings?  Any Special Skills that you wish to share with the Scouts?  Please see the Senior Patrol Leader to arrange time to show the scouts these skills, or share your ideas with the scouts.

Parents, who are interested in further information as to how the troop operates or would like to be trained to understand our functions, please see Mr. Hanna during the meetings.

EACH PATROL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM CAMP!

Please make sure that your scout can attend this month’s camping trip. Their participation is essential for the camping trip to be successful as well as towards advancement in the troop.

Thank you for all parents who joined us in Washington DC.

All Scouts who sign up for camping trips are responsible for payment by the Wednesday prior to the trip unless a previous payment date has been established.  If the payment is not received by these dates, the scout will not be allowed to go.  This is because the troop is required to pay fees in advance on their behalf.
