Some, such as <em>Leading Estates of the World, </em>are basically glossy catalogs of pumped-up real-estate listings. But you should see the houses!</p><p>There’s the contemporary $15.9 million estate on Jupiter Island, Fla., which overlooks both the ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. If you stare at the beautiful photos long enough, you can picture yourself lounging at the end of the private pier, toes dangling in the balmy salt water and a margarita in hand.</p><p>If mountains are more your thing, you’ll love the view from the $6.95 million log compound in Jackson Hole, Wyo. It includes a half mile of waterfront along the Teton River, so pull on those imaginary hip waders and go fly-fishing.</p><p>If you know exactly where you want to go, there’s likely a magazine that focuses on that region. Take a look at <em>New York Spaces, Sunset, Mountain Living, Southern Accents </em>and <em>Su Casa, </em>to name a few. You can almost feel the hip beat of the city throbbing through the oversize pages of <em>Miami Home & Décor. </em>Inside you’ll find white, minimalist interiors taos vacation rentals punctuated by jolts of pink, orange and turquoise, usually with a view of azure water out the windows.</p><p>The ads are as much of a getaway as the articles: lots of high-end patio furniture, swimming pools with bottoms as intricately tiled as the ceilings of some cathedrals, round beds swathed in silk.
