Mike Brown was supposed to come down to play for the Manitoba Moose during the NHL's two-week Olympic break.

But after recording his fourth game misconduct of the season in the latter stages of Saturday's 4-3 victory over the St. John's Maple Leafs, Brown received an automatic two-game suspension.

The resident enforcer sat out the first of two games yesterday afternoon, but he will also be on the sidelines this Friday when the Moose meet the Hamilton Bulldogs in a two-game set between two teams jockeying for position in the Canadian Division.

Before getting involved in a fracas with Maple Leafs centre Bob Wren, who received a match penalty for inadvertently hitting Moose trainer Brad Hall, Brown had been reunited with Pat Kavanagh and Josh Holden and the hard-working trio had been doing a great job as a checking/energy line.

Tyler Bouck took Brown's spot on the left side yesterday and came through with a big short-handed marker 2:02 into the second period.

Allen out: Sturdy blue-liner Bryan Allen was also forced to the sidelines yesterday, but he was out with an injury.

Allen, who is on loan from the Vancouver Canucks, took a puck to the face in Saturday's game and was unable to play.

Bouncing back: After surrendering six goals on 16 shots last weekend in St. John's against the Maple Leafs, Moose goalie Martin Brochu came through with a 21-save performance on Saturday in a 4-3 triumph.

The victory was Brochu's 10th of the season and his fifth on home ice, where he sports a 5-6-2 record, a 3.73 GAA and .865 save percentage.

Farkas flying: Maple Leafs centre Jeff Farkas continued his torrid pace yesterday by picking up an assist.

The second-year speed merchant has registered at least one point in 16 of the past 18 games and accumulated eight goals and 16 points during that stretch.

His strong play earned him a three-game call-up to Toronto prior to the Olympic break and it carried over to Thursday's AHL All-Star Classic where Farkas managed a hat trick.

Moose tracks: Right-winger Brad Leeb was helped from the ice just 4:57 into yesterday's contest after a knee-to-knee collision with Doug Doull.

Leeb, who snapped a 12-game pointless drought with a goal on Saturday night, will be re-evaluated this morning.

He suffered a similar knee injury last season as a member of the Kansas City Blades.
