DOWN ON THE FARM: Two key members of the Canucks' minor league team in Winnipeg were especially good on the seven-game road trip the Manitoba Moose completed on the weekend.
Goalie Martin Brochu, vilified in Vancouver after a 0-3 start in the NHL earned him a demotion, went 3-1-1 on the trip and allowed only 10 goals in his five starts. Included was a 41-save 5-1 victory in Saint John.
Defenceman Bryan Allen, another who quickly played his way into the American League after starting he season with the Canucks, was dominant in several games and caught the eye of Utah Grizzlies' coach Don Hay, who is guiding the Dallas Stars' farm team after coaching the Flames last season.
"He is the best NHL prospect we've seen in the American League in any of the games we've played," Hay said.
