BACK ON SKATES: The other news from the injury front was more positive. Defenceman Bryan Allen skated Monday for the first time since injuring his right ankle last Tuesday against Calgary. Allen suffered the injury while attempting to block a shot and initially thought he was okay.

"It was weird because I played the rest of the game," said Allen, who did accompany the team to California for last week's four-day retreat. "It happened in the third period and it was a little bit sore and I played through it. But I got home that night and it got real sore and I when I got to the airport in the morning it was pretty swollen and hard to walk on."

Allen, who said his ankle is still a little tender, described his status as day-to-day, which makes him questionable for Thursday's game.
