Brad May realized at the moment of impact that his season was about to be shortened by six to eight weeks.
"I knew immediately,'' said May, who suffered a second-degree sprain of the medial collateral ligament in his right knee during the second period of Friday's 3-2 loss to the Flames in Calgary.
The 28-year-old May scored his fifth goal of the season Friday and had been at his agitating best of late.
"I deserve better,'' added the left-winger. "I've always been able to battle back, and everything I am as a player is reckless and on the breaking point. But I wouldn't change a thing.''
Meanwhile, the Canucks have recalled right-winger Brad Leeb from their AHL affiliate in Syracuse. Leeb, 20, has seven goals and 10 assists in 22 games with the Crunch this season.
"It's everything you dream of,'' said Leeb when notified following Friday's AHL win at Hamilton. "It's a chance to get a taste of what this level is all about and improve from there.''
