Dear Mr. Noyes:
Thank you for your most recent letter regarding traffic congestion problems at the intersection of Route 222 and Route 772.
Although I can understand the growing concerns you have over the congestion at this intersection, through Rep. Zimmerman's letter to Barry Hoffman., it is clear that PADO'F is aware of the traffic problems at this intersection. Indeed, this is evident through its efforts at changing the timing of the traffic lights at this intersection. However, as mentioned in my previous letter, I am also aware that altering the timing of these lights has not and will not entirely solve the problems associated with this intersection. Such significant improvement can only occur through major reconstruction of this intersection. In spite of the fact that the township appears to support such a concept, this decision is ultimately made by PADOT based upon recommendations submitted by the County Planning Commission. Although there is no formal process for an individual such as yourself to present specific traffic concerns, I can assure you that all construction projects on state roads throughout the County are prioritized based on need. In spite of this, however, I would encourage you to contact the Planning Commission in an effort to achieve greater awareness of the problems associated with this intersection.
Again, thank you for contacting my office. If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
Noah W. Wenger
State Senator
