Dear Mr. Noyes:
Thank you for recently contacting my office regarding concerns you have over congestion at the intersection of Route 222 and Route 772.
As mentioned in your enclosed correspondences, increasing growth and development have significantly affected traffic congestion in the vicinity of this intersection. Indeed, I too have had difficulty in making a left turn onto Rt. 772 from the Rt. 222 southbound ramp. This congestion while undoubtedly intensify with continued development in this area. Upon reviewing the letter from Barry Hoffman of PADOT I am inclined to agree that this congestion can at least be partially relieved through adjusting the green light timing on the Rt. 772 approaches. Although this adjustment will moderately improve traffic congestion at this location, I am also aware that this decision will not entirely solve this problem. However, making improvements similar to one you suggest will most likely take years to development and cost millions of dollars. Therefore, although there are no current plans to make such improvements at this time, please be aware that I understand your concerns regarding this matter and I am hopeful that in the future such a project will be considered by PADOT.
Thank you again for contacting my office. If I can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
Noah W. Wenger
State Senator
