Police Department
Your Police Department – Quality is our Primary Objective
The West Earl Township Police Department consists of dedicated professionals with the mission of providing quality service. It is our goal to respond to the needs of the citizens in a timely, courteous and professional manner. To accomplish this task each officer has undergone intense basic police training as well as ongoing inservice and special training. Currently, we have officers who have received advanced training in various disciplines, including Arson investigation, Criminal Investigation, Crime Scene Processing and Child Abuse Investigation, to name a few. Furthermore, each officer is trained in CPR, First Aid and with the use of the Automatic External Defibrillator.

Help Us Help You And Your Neighbors
While the members of the Police Department perform their duty to the best of their ability, they need your help. Do not hesitate to call when you observe suspicious or unusual activity. An officer will respond to investigate the activity. While there may be a legitimate reason for the activity, your call could prevent a crime from occurring.

Road Department
It’s Spring Time Again!

It’s the season we all look forward to after the harsh winter weather of ice and snow. It’s time for spring flowers, green grass and gardening. For the road department, it’s time for street sweeping and pot hole repairing. Weather permitting, street sweeping will be done on or about the last week of March. Pot hole repair will continue throughout the spring.

A Glance at This Summer’s Road Improvement Project

For the first time this year the township has participated in the Penn Dot Road Turn Back Program. This program turns state roads back to the local municipality and provides a "per-mile" payment to the municipality for road improvements. Linden Grove Road and Wissler Road in the eastern part of the township are the first state roads in the township to be "turned back" to West Earl. Our "per-mile" payment will be used to totally rebuild both roads. Work on the roads is tentatively scheduled between July and September.

Schaum’s Corner Intersection Traffic Study

The township has begun a traffic study of the area surrounding the Schaum’s Corner Intersection. The traffic study, which is being partially financed with a Municipal Transportation Grant from Lancaster County, will collect and analyze traffic data within a radius of one mile from the intersection. Upon completion of this step, a report will be generated that will identify the level of service of the existing conditions and propose recommendations to improve the area.

Adopt a Highway Program

The township has started a program in which residents can elect to "adopt" a particular road, or segment of road, an individual or group agrees to keep their adopted road free from debris. Families, businesses, youth groups, church groups, or service clubs can adopt a road of their choice. The township can provide brightly colored vests, plastic bags and signs to all those interested in this worthy program. Contact the township administrative office for more information on the Adopt A Highway Program. Help keep West Earl Township a community to be proud of.
