WEST EARL TOWNSHIP
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
REGULAR MEETING
JANUARY 28, 2002
AGENDA / Unofficial Notes
None
Pat presented a letter from Retew Associates that summarized a proposal put together by Chris Neuman, Lancaster County’s Transportation Planner, concerning the Route 772 corridor improvements:
"The proposal includes using (only) state and federal funds totaling $834,000, for improvements to the Schaums corner area – along Route 772, from Main Street to Route 272. This proposal is being considered on January 28, 2002 by the County’s Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). The MPO sets the priorites for the state and federal funding that gets allocated to all transportation projects in Lancaster County. If the MPO supports this proposal, it is likely that this proposal will get included in the update to the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) that is adopted by PENNDOT."
A motion was approved for a certain officer to carry over an extra 6 hours of vacation to the next vacation year.
A motion was approved to compensate the members of the Planning Commission $25 per meeting, similar to the compensation of most of the other boards (up until recently state law did not allow compensating the Planning Commission).
The Supervisors discussed items that still need to be addressed in the new building and the funds left for the building program. The installation of a heating system for the new shop was approved at $4400. The board discussed poor lighting in some areas and the condition of some of the garage doors. Chairman Fisher said he would get prices on 3 new walk-thru door and 3 new overhead doors.
The board mentioned that a (state-run?) video conference was presented on the drought. The drought is getting worse.
Chairman Fisher attended a meeting on terrorism presented by federal authorities. He said that they complimented the good cooperation they have had with local police in Eastern Pennsylvania.
Mr. Stover discussed the Agr. Meeting that was held with local farmers. He said there was very good attendance. The meeting was held in cooperation with the county (and state?). There was discussion about the county
Agricultural Preserve Board and Lancaster Farmland Trust. Another meeting is to be scheduled for February or March.
