Tactics Ogre
Let Us Cling Together
Ogre Battle Saga Episode VII
In My Opinion...
Tactics Ogre has to be one of the best games ever created.  It's storyline is top-notch--Perhaps the best to date.  This is Final Fantasy Tactics' great grandfather.  The people at Quest who worked on this game worked on FF Tactics, so if that's any indication, this game is great!  Even the same two composers who did FF Tactics' music did Tactics Ogre's.  I was so happy to hear that Quest got rid of the reputation meter in this game...At least that's one thing I won't have to worry about!    If you play the game right, and "follow your heart", this game will be the greatest (or one of the greatest) games that you can play.  I think that I got the best ending...It was great, anyways!  This is a rare, read: RARE game to find.  If you can snag a copy at your local soccer mom gaming store, GET IT!  You won't be disappointed...Unless you're really bad at strategy RPGs!  Why can't these kinds of games be released in larger amounts?  Maybe because it is truly a classic game...I don't know!  All I know is that I'm happy that I had the chance to play such a wonderful game!
...And this is where the game starts.  From this small scene, it's up to you to unify Valeria!
Vice rides his horse in haste to Griate bearing news of the capture of Duke Ronway and the arrival of Lans, an enemy of the Walsta Liberation Army.  Is it too late?
The Walstanians are an ethnic group of people on the island of Valeria that have been oppressed for years.  This scene shows the cruelty the Walstanians receive from another ethnic group, the Rosolians.

Graphics: 9.6
You're probably wondering why I gave this game such a high score in the graphics department, right?  Well, this WAS a game for the Super Famicom, and it looks great for its time...I STILL like the game's look, anyways.  Compared to the games nowadays, though, Tactics Ogre is obviously not as detailed and magnificent.  The graphics are nice, but it won't impress the younger crowd.  But that's not what the game's out there to do.  Graphics don't make a game (in my book, anyways), and Quest spent its time working on the heart of the game--that is, the storyline!
Sound: 9.0
The music in Tactics Ogre is done by Hitoshi Sakimoto and Masaharu Iwata.  They, as I mentioned before, would later go on to compose the Final Fantasy Tactics soundtrack as well.  So, as you would expect, the music in this game is great!  All of the tracks fit with the area or event that it corresponds with.  As far as sound effects go...Well, they're pretty good.  They sound just like SNES sound effects, but I particularly like the sound fallen characters make.  Anyways, if you can find the soundtrack, it's a definite buy.  I just wish I could find one!
Storyline: 10!!!
Now this part is what makes me like the game so much.  Oh, at first, the storyline will seem pretty basic.  You save someone and everyone calls you a hero.  It happens in a lot of stories.  But then, you get to choose how the story flows.  There are three paths--chaos, neutral, and law.  You'd think that the path of chaos is the "evil" path, right?  Well, that's the path of a local good guy.  If you play the other paths, the game isn't as good.  I like the whole feel of the game.  Sometimes doing the right thing will get you into the most trouble.  Kind of like the real world, huh?  If you want little tid bits of the storyline, just read all of the comments accompanying the pictures on this review page.  Well, if you liked FF Tactics' storyline or you're a fan of the Ogre Battle series, you'll probably fall in love with Tactics Ogre.  Hey, Lans, Canopus, Warren, Guildus, Mildain, and the Brunhild are in it!  Tristan also makes a cameo appearance!
These are the guys from the previous Ogre Battle.  As you can probably tell, that's Mildain.
The Dark Knight com riding in one night, killing all in their paths and taking hostages.  Jerks!!!
Yay!  Canopus joins you for your first real battle.  He's one of the better characters in the game.
Armorika Castle is where the Duke is being held (his own castle!).  Don't worry, though.  Lans and crew will take care of things.
Kachua is the sister of Denim.  But later on, she'll find out who she truly is.  It is up to Denim to keep her emotions balanced.
Final Score: 9.7
Final Thought
If you see this game, make sure that you pick it up.  Even if you hate the game (I seriously doubt that would happen, though), you can sell it for more money than you bought it for.  This is truly a classic, and I feel sorry for anyone that passes it up.
