Unicorn  Austin 1954

Here you have it, the grand daddy of them all.  Unicorn is the first Space Age  introduction and a mighty tough customer at that.  It  never ceases to amaze me how the old Historics can weather any climatic or growing conditions.   Unicorn is a titan in the iris beds, a warrior with thin 45 inch stalks that don't blow over.  The appendages are consistent and long unlike many of today's recent introductions.  I have two clumps of this iris and it grows like a weed.  I'm definitely going to try this iris in my New Historics program next Spring.
