Snowball
, The cat that didn't have a home
Snowball is the last feline to come into our household. He just arrived at the back doorstep in the middle of August and never really ventured to far from the neighborhood after that. On Halloween night the poor fella stood at the front entrance and pleaded with us to take him in and give him a home. By this time we knew that he really could use some help but with two cats already in the house it was simply out of the question. Our female Broue would just go berserk at the patio door when he came for supper so we never let him in. I did , however , cut a hole in a Xerox box , stuff an old winter jacket inside and put it out on the balcony for him because the temperature had fallen to minus 10°C. Snowball moved in immediately and seemed grateful but this was not good enough for my young son. The little guy cried one night before going to bed when he saw the poor cat outside shivering and demanded that we bring the little vagabond in .
Off to Reno Depot we went the following weekend to buy a door and door frame so Snowball could have his own room , it set me back $150.00 but I felt tremendous relief knowing that we was out of the snow and into a warm storage room. Now that he was inside , I was able to see that he was in need of some medical attention so off to the vet we went. Medication for tape worms and ear mites plus vaccine set me back another $85 dollars but this never bothered me for a second. Snowball sat on the examination bench like an brave boy as if he knew the veterinarian was there to help him , he didn't offer any resistance at all. His behavior insured me that we were were not making a mistake , I felt good inside even though all of this had been very stressful with the added stress of Grover and Broue not being happy about him being inside.
Snowball also needed to be neutered , his hormone level was definitely too high for the much older house cats Grover and Broue , many a fight would erupt because of Snowball's machismo. So we finally got him neutered and the rest is history. Snowball and Grover learned to co-exist quite nicely. Snowball even taught old Grover how to hunt mice. I'll never forget the day Grover came home with his first mouse, he was soooooo proud and vocalized loudly until I went out to check what the excitement was about.
Snowball is a good cat and probably the most normal tempered of the
cats. Besides his aggressive behavior towards other cats , he's a
real sweety .
Here, Snowball can be seen tolerating young Gray's undevoted fondness for him. Snow likes all of the cats but Zoe, she has always been agressive towards him so he avoids her like the plague.
