A cozy little coffeehouse in the
neighborhood. They serve terrific desserts.
That and WI-FI access.

The menu has a mix of standard pub fare and a revolving number of seasonal dishes. A really great restaurant in our neighborhood. What do you think? Leave a comment about this place.Comments | Trackback
What
do you think? Leave a comment about this place. This is a great "greasy spoon." A great place to go for breakfast. It doesn't look like much from outside, but the inside is pure reality. Good hearty food from the grill. It wins points from me for its multicultural decor (Korean doll calendars + Kwanzaa & Underground Railroad posters + Pictures of the Pope's visit to South Korea). The egg sandwich is the bomb. What

HARDWARE
/ HOUSEWARES
Brookland Hardware
12th & Monroe NE
202/635-3200
So there is a huge box store not too far up on Rhode Island. But when you don't want to walk the length of a few football fields or deal with surly underpaid employees that don't know where everything is, you can saunter over to Brookland Hardware.
An amazing emporium of hardware and housewares, it's the sort of place where they have a little of everything and you don't know how they could possibly know where it all is. But they do. And they also do equipment rental and have a tidy little garden supply with some plants (in season).

BARBER
SHOP
Queenstown Barber Shop
3126 Queens Chapel Rd - 301/927-0358
I
have a thing for old barber shops. Maybe its the methodical - almost scientific
precision that surrounds it. Maybe its all the chrome. I used to drive all the
way to University
Place to an old barbershop. This after a horrible experience at the 12th street barber shop. (I was treated so rudely I swore never to darken their doorway
again).
Anyway, when I walked into the Queenstown Barbershop I was really blown
away. An efficient haircut in a throwback of a place (football portraits circa 1960
and chrome for days!). Anyway, its next to the Giant on Queens Chapel Rd (just take Michigan
North until it turns into Queens Chapel, its in the shopping center with the Giant grocery
store.
