Hector

- A former squire to Marquis Feldane. Hector was always a step ahead of the rest and his knife skills are legendary. A great friend, a charming companion and gifted gambler. Bronwen was quite smitten with him when they left Amber but now feels romance would only ruin a legendary partnership.

- Bronwen can’t remember a time when Benny wasn’t there. As a grand daughter of Duke Garville, Benedicta was often at the court of her grandfather and involved in the gatherings of young nobles. She was red-headed, green-eyed and mischievous and very soon Bronwen and Benny were inseparable. Benedicta didn’t feel the same wanderlust as Bronwen but when Bronwen told her of her plan to leave, Benny didn’t let her down. They have now been travelling for over thirty years and Bronwen has found Benedicta all the palaces, companions, fools and puzzles that a good friend can. Easily Bronwen’s closest confidant.

- Poet and romantic, Tristan is the true Knight errant. Pledging himself to protecting Bronwen, wherever she should go. Bronwen adores him and although she has learnt how to fight herself she wouldn’t dream of preventing Tristan – her one true knight from protecting her. When Bronwen does return to Amber Tristan always carries her favour in jousts. Whilst many may find Tristan too reserved his proper exterior masks a truly wicked sense of humour.

- This is the guy Dad wouldn’t like to see his daughter with. Orin is blond, charming and silver-tongued. A rogue but a noble one, Orin is a rich grand-nephew of a city lord. Enamoured by the ideas of shadow, he encouraged Bronwen to explore shadow and is often the driving force behind any new shadow exploration. Bronwen is still her own woman but she is swayed most by Orin’s counsel.
