BRONTEwas registered in 1911 for use in a packing frozen meats, and became well known in 1930 as the

 registered trademark of a line of canned lamb tongues, ox tongues and other meat products.   It also became the name of the company formed in 1963 to take over and expand the canning activities of an established company which was then relinquishing its meat processing business.

From premises located at the State Abattoirs in Homebush, New South Wales, and licensed by the Australian

Government Department of Primary Industry, this small but vigorous company had packed a range of quality meat products for the export and domestic markets under its several registered brand names.

Since 1992, when the Homebush State Abattoirs were closed to make way for the Sydney 2000 Olympics, the canned products have been manufactured for the company under licence.

Household brand name products include:

“BRONTE” Tongues in Jelly;

“COLONIAL” Corned Mutton;

“RENO” Liverspread;

“RENO” Corned Beef.

In 1979, “CARTERS” Corned Beef and “CARTERS” Corned Mutton were introduced and produced exclusively as Halal using meats from cattle and sheep slaughtered under strict Muslim religious rites.  These two products were the first of their kind in Australia to be marketed with the

official seal of the Australian Federation of Islamic Councils (AFIC).  The company now exports to many overseas

destinations throughout Asia, North America, Pacific Islands, the European Union, as well as maintaining a strong domestic profile.

We are continually adding to our product range.
