Sitka

Sitka, located on Baranof Island, was the Russian capital of Alaska before Alaska was purchased by the U.S. in 1867.  St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Church stands in the middle of downtown Sitka.  Sitka Nat'l Historic Park consists of  totem poles and historic sites.

We stayed at the Sitka Hotel.
