Abseiling Waiver
OBSERVATIONS
AND SAFETY RULES:
1.
The term “ABSEILING” or “rappelling” refers to the technique of a safe and
controlled descent down a rope that is securely anchored above;
2.
With Abseiling activity there is a risk of injury, illness or death or
the loss of or damage to property;
3.
Abseiling equipment should be thoroughly checked before use;
4.
The likelihood of any physical injury whilst involved in Abseiling is
largely dependant on the care that you yourself take;
5.
Each person must be responsible for their own actions and take all
reasonable care for themselves and those around them;
6.
Novices should learn to abseil on short cliffs to develop technique,
skills and confidence before embarking on anything more adventurous.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND INDEMNITY TO THE CLUB
Where reference is made to the “Club” it refers to the
Brisbane Catholic Bushwalking Club.
a. I acknowledge
that I have read the above Observations and Safety Rules and that I understand
them.
b. In voluntarily participating
in the Club activity identified as

which is expected to involve ABSEILING, I am aware
that this may expose me to risks that could lead to injury, illness or death or
to loss of or damage to my property.
c. I acknowledge that I will participate in the
ABSEILING activity at my own risk, and that I will not hold any member or
members of the Club responsible for any injury, fatality or damage that may
occur to person or property from any cause whatsoever in the course of the
activity.
d. To minimise
any risks, I have endeavoured to ensure that this activity is within my
capabilities and I am
carrying
food, water and equipment appropriate for the activity.
e. I have
advised the activity leader if I am taking any medication or have any physical
or other limitation
that might
affect my participation in the activity.
f.
I will make every effort to remain with the rest of the party during the
activity.

acknowledgement and indemnity that I am providing is also given in respect

the age of eighteen (18) years and in relation to whom I am the
parent/guardian, and I indemnify the Club and its members against any liability
resulting from the participation of the child (or minor) in respect of whom I
sign this instrument.
h. The terms of this
acknowledgement and indemnity shall be binding on me, my heirs, personal
representatives and any minors (children) in respect of whom I sign this
Instrument.

This acknowledgement and indemnity continues in force until notice of
its revocation shall have been received in writing by the Club.
