Final form had developed into a systematic means ofindicating the level of function held by the wearer within the political system. In sharp contrast to No. 4 the parade harness in light Havana-brown leather was more elaborate than anything that had been previously worn, with the introduction of the cross strap worn together with supporting straps for the pack and a waist belt, the gilt buckle of which displayed the German Eagle set within a wreath of oak leaves.
