| How you learn? Everybody learns differently. Sometimes we have to adjust to my | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| �Professors teaching style, which can be very difficult if you don`t know you er earning style. My peers and I took the Herman Brain Dominance Instrument Test (HBDI) and the VARK Test to determine my learning styles. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The first test was the HBDI. The test determines your strongest and weakest learning styles. The test determined my strongest learning style was the doing learning style, which means I am a hands on learner.� In my writing class our professor introduced me to Black Board. She told me the steps I needed to follow in order to use Blackboard. As she told me the steps, I followed them. She also provided me with the steps to save documents on to my flash drive.� As she read the steps I did the function on the computer. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| My weakest learning style is the feeling learning style. People that learn this way ask question like why? and who? They enjoy personal connections and emotionally supportive environments.� They relate with both their instructors and classmates. In my math class we have to do a geometry project with another classmate. Since I now know my weak area is the feeling learning style, I think working with a classmate with a different learning style will help me improve in other learning style. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The other test we took was the VARK learning Strengths Questionnaire. This test helped me determine my learning styles and it also helped me understand my learning styles. The test said I was an aural learner. That means I learn better when I attend class daily, and when I have discussions about what is being taught. Aural learners also learn by taking notes from the text, and recording notes, and listening to them later. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| My weak score with VARK was in reading/writing learning.� People who are this type of learner learn by writing out the topic over and over again and reading their notes silently again and again. They also organize their diagrams and graphs into statements. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I will get extra help so I can adjust to this style of learning. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| My writing professor teaches in a multimodal of ways. She teaches aural learning style. We get in a circle in the back of the class to discuss the topic of our essays and what they mean and how we are going to write them. She is also a visual teacher. We use the discussion board after she posted a picture of a little girl that looked really sad and she asked the class our thoughts about the picture. She is a kinesthetic teacher also, and she uses real life examples. She told us about her freshman year in college how she rollerbladed the first semester of college. I enjoy the way this professor teaches, because I personally can learn from the way she teaches, because I feel very comfortable learning this way. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I have learned to become a better note taker, because in my study skills class the profess he showed us how to use Cornell note taking skills. Which is apart of the reading and writing learning style, this is one of the ways I have successfully adjusted to new learning styles | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Now that I have taking the VARK and the HBDI test, this well help be successful in my college. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I believe that our math professor teaches in the read and writing learning mode because she writes the problems on the board over and over again and she takes every word from the book. When she was teaching about graphs we used the diagrams from the book. I score very low in math because it`s hard for me to learn this way, but going to the math coach has helped me with this learning. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
