Leila
is left-handed |
|
to
keep in touch throughout Leila's grueling sked away from
home, Leila and Guga (Luis Gustavo) e-mail and call each
other daily |
|
she
hates cooking; her husband does the cooking in their
house! |
|
she
used to walk for 40 mins. to get to her volleyball
practice (her parents refused to give her
transpo money in the hopes that she would quit volleyball
- no such luck!) |
|
she
failed her first two years of secondary school ( too much
devotion to volleyball!) |
|
she
left home at 17 to play for a professional club (Minas
Tennis Club) - without her parents' consent! |
|
she
definitely wants her own kids - two, a boy and a girl |
|
(for
Pinoy fans out there) Leila
turned down a movie offer (sayang!) |
|
she
considers her mom as the most important person in her
life |
|
she
plans to go back to school and take up Journalism when
she quits from the National team after the Sydney
Olympics |
|
Leila
models for one of the biggest modelling agencies in Rio
de Janeiro |
|
she
was sort of tomboyish as a child - she disliked playing
with dolls and would always go home with a scraped or
skinned knee |
|
her
first sport was handball |
|
she
was once cut off from the national team because she was
"too small to attack" (well,
Leila proved them wrong!) |
|
she
almost quit the volleyball scene after she was excluded
from the national team. for a while, she toyed with the
idea of opening her own restaurant |
|
(I
know this is nasty but i just can't resist! >:D anyways, it
ain't about Leila, it's about her hubby!) her
husband became a businessman after he failed to qualify
for the Barcelona Olympics (unlike
Leila, he's a quitter!) |
|
on
her free time, Leila stays home watches TV and videos and
listens to music |
|
her
husband also serves as her manager |
|
they
(Leila and her hubby) stay in
Belo Horizonte whenever Leila's not off playing in
another part of the world |
|
her
nickname is Garfield (yeah, she
sure looks like that cat!) |
|
she
has a pet dog - a poodle named Prizzy |
|
she
wants to go into the beauty/make-up industry after she
quits the National Team (hopefully,
she'd also model her own products!) |
|
to
improve her already astounding jump, Leila practices six
to eight (6-8) hours a day! |
