LEITES NESTLE ACQUIRES LEILA

Leila Barros was acquired by Leites Nestle to join the select group of seven players that were hired to start an important team rebuilding campaign for the 98-99 season.

Top player Barros is one of the mainstays of the Brazilian women's volleyball team that made up MRV Suggar last season. Leila belongs to the select group of seven athletes that makes up the Brazilian Confederation of Volleyball_________

The 27-year old athlete gained popularity after her showing in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics where she charmed Brazilians and showed her talent on court. Leila is one of the most charismatic volleyball players in history.

Leila disclosed her willingness to play for Leites Nestle and her goal to win more titles for the team, "I cannot deny that it was difficult for me to make the decision to leave Belo Horizonte, where I've always played, except for a season in Sao Paolo. But everyone knows that Nestle is avery strong, very good team. This season, I was given the chance to join the club, I accepted the offer with my mind set on a larger objective for my career." Leila continued that "All athletes must always strive to improve their game, to evolve and to widen his perspective in terms of his career. I believe that in Nestle, all conditions are favorable for doing just that."

Leila is already familiar with some of her teammates in Nestle, she had competed against them during club tournaments, or with them as part of the national team,"When I was still in the junior team (Juvenile-Infanto) I played with Tatiana and Estrella. It's only right that I play with them again after such a long time."

With regards to comments that she would be Nestle's no.1 attacker, Leila only has these to say, "I will be a part of a group. Nestle has proven itself as a winning team, I come as an addition to its already great roster. I want to help Nestle maintain this winning tradition and I promise to give my best."
