LEILA AND EUGENE
HELP. I'm being bombarded by calls and letters inquiring about the address of the Leila Barros Society in the Philippines. Leila Barros, of course, was the star of Brazil that topped the World Volleyball Grand Prix held in Manila August of last year.
"Please help me. I do not know the address of the Leila Barros Society,'' wrote Francia Salazar of Marian Center, Inc. from San Marcelino, Metro Manila.
From Famar Pangan Santos of 70 Sto. Domingo, Minalin, Pampanga: "I am glad that there is a Leila Barros Society in the Philippines. May I know the procedures in joining the club?''
Gina Lyn T. Cordero, from the Provincial Planning and Development Office of Leyte based at the Capitol Building, Sen. Enage Street, 6500 in Tacloban City, became the spokesperson of five Leila Barros fans. Wrote Gina: "We read in the PDI issue of Jan. 25 about the Leila Barros Society. Please send our names to the founder, SP De La Cruz, so that we could become members of the Society: G.T. Cordero, Grace Dulce B. Tibe, Ian Vincent B. Tibe, Samuel R.P. Tibe Jr. and Rex Brandy B. Tibe.''
To the founders of LBS, please attend to them? Or, better yet, please send me the exact address of your Society as there are still many others out there wanting to join you?
Anyway, here's good news for the LBS members. Leila may yet make a comeback this year as the Volleyball World Grand Prix will return to our shores, most likely in October or before that. I really wish that Leila would be back. I miss her, too. You see, I had the happy occasion to sit next to her at the Century Park Hotel on the eve of her departure. She was really nice. And very pretty. Each time she opened her mouth--full and luscious--she seemed to be eternally smiling.
When we shook hands, I had the coldest pair of hands that night. When we parted ways, I had cold feet till the wee hours of the morning. Oh, Leila.
