Branded Hand by Elmer Koppelmann(available from the Sheboygan County Historical Research Center),Elmer Koppelmann's fine book relates Captain Walker's story, with an emphasis on his Winooski, Wisconsin, days. (Winooski is near present-day Plymouth, Wisconsin, in Sheboygan County just north of Milwaukee) It is believed that Captain Walker, in his five years in Winooski, aided in the UnderGround RailRoad. One of Captain Walker's daughters is buried in the area.
