What more can be said about "the
greatest movie ever made" that hasn't already been said before?
Pretty much, nothing. I expected a great film if for
nothing more than just being a masterpiece of cinema. What I
saw was a masterpiece of cinema. A film that has forever left
it's mark on all films from that point on. The camerawork and
storytelling alone would be enough to make this a great film.
Top that off with great acting from all newcomers, a superb score,
amazing editing and cinematography, and a story that holds up 60
years and more. A story of a man who rises and falls through
his own doing. The American hero who rises from his youth into
one of the richest and most powerful men in the world. This
man who through his whole life of ups and downs clings to one
lasting memory. Indeed, this film has it all, drama, comedy,
suspense, romance, tragedy, and above all the mystery which when
answered only leaves the viewer reassessing all that has happened,
both seen and unseen in this man's life. Mr. Welles crafts a
masterpiece in his first attempt at film at the age of 25. As
a director that's a huge accomplishment. Let's not forget that
he was also the title role, writer, and producer.
The greatest film ever, perhaps. My personal
favorite, no. Still a crafty masterpiece that must be seen by
anyone who appreciates the art of film in any form. 10/10 |
