Dear Members of Buddhist Community,

Vesak is a significant day for all devout Buddhists everywhere in the world. celebrated with much pomp and gaiety in myriad ways, this special occasion which marks the three sacred historical events in the life of the Buddha … his birth, enlightenment and demise …  is deeply recollected by Buddhists of all nationalities.

To lead and support the world’s Buddhist community onto the path to Nibbana, a total of 28 Buddhas had appeared in this Universe. they had each emerged in various cycles of times and would continue to surface in future times. each of them would demonstrate exemplary skills to impart to mankind, all methods guiding one to the achievement of the ultimate goal of Nibbana. in essence, they had and would have realized the same universal truth as Sakyamuni Buddha.

Hence, at bps this year for Vesak, we are honoring these 28 Buddhas through a simple and respectful ceremony. this ancient offering by one and all shall be a great meritorious deed, producing benefits of good health, good luck, prosperity and fulfillment of one’s wishes for themselves and their family members.

BPS encourages all to participate in this offering to the 28 Buddhas. (Ten individuals will be given the special honor of offering   to one Buddha on Vesak day and Image will place in the temple with their name for next 364 days. During the period of following year, everyday prayers and offerings for two times will be conducted for their respective purposes.)
