headaches became more frequent and worse in severity;Early in September 1998, approximately 1 ½ weeks after stopping Zyban, I began to experience a strange visual distortion that occurred when I changed my visual field from close to far or from a closed in space to a wide open space;. In early October, I went to see the Optometrist, who dilated my eyes for examination of the optic nerve. Both optic nerves were swollen (elevated), margins blurred, and he referred me to Opthamology. A week later, the opthamologist found the same results in addition to minor hemorrages, called it "papilledema". Neurologist gave referral to Neurology for consideration of an LP shunt.I first shunt placement in November 1999. It seemed to work initially, but soon noticed the visual distortion coming back. This was followed by the headaches. Since then, had an unsuccessful shunt revision in January 2000, and a "successful" shunt revision in February 2000.
