~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Welsh Tranquillity |
Betws-y-Coed and the Conwy Valley that it sits in alongside the River Conwy is a peaceful village with much of its charm still intact. A well known place for walkers and as a base for exploration of the Snowdonia Natural Park and the surrounding Gwydyr Forest. Obscure until Victorian times when it became a haven for artists and with the opening of the railroad times started to change for Betws-y-Coed and the whole valley. Villages like Llanrwst with its 17th century bridge and the 15th century cottage where I had my first taste of Welsh Rarebit was a dream come true for me. History abounds in Wales and this is just a small portion of a vast area of beauty and tranquillity. |
