| After the 1715 uprising in Scotland, Gen. Wade was sent north by King George I to build roads to improve the movement of troops to better control the troublesome highlanders. Ironically, down these same roads marched the highland army of Charles Edward Stuart in 1745. Many are still used today but many have been left to time. Photos Pending (due end of June 2005) |
