Courting and Fighting
The courting scenes were in many different locations. The Ashford Castle entrance bridge was used for three different scenes.
The house of the Rev and Mrs Playfair's is exactly like it was then.
The fight scene next to the river was on the grounds of the 12th century Cong Augustinian Abbey.
The old man dying cottage is as it was just up from the fight scene so if you knew of this, these are the only two scenes that did coincide with each other.
"Can you ride a bike?"
The courting begins
"Well, what are we waiting for?"
"He's walking her back...the whole long way"
"You've had enough?" "No!" "Well give a man a hand then"
The fight continues
"... and a hundred battles, Aye, and a thousand besides, stood alone on the victorious fields"
"Here you are Snuffy, fifteen pounds"
