      In the name of God amen I Mathew (sic) Marcus of Boone County Kentucky being of sound mind memory and understanding and being desirous to dispose of my estate by will do make and constitute this to by my last will and Testament -

In the first place it is my will that all my just debts shall and funeral expences be paid-

Secondly, I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Elizabeth Marcus all my estate both Real and personal during her widowhood and should she marry again then it is my will that she only take her third part as the law may direct -

Thirdly It is my wish that if I should die before my children Henry and John Marcus should arrive to the age of 21 years or before I advance them money or property equal to what I have given my older children that in such I want that my wife or Exrs. should sell property and raise money to be given them when they arrive of age to make them equal to what I have given my elder children which amounts may be seen in a Book kept for that purpose and charged -

Fourthly. It is my will and desire that after my children Henry and John are made up equal to the other children & they made equal and after the death of my said wife that my estate real and personal should descend to & be equally divided among my children namely Nancy Crisler Washington Marcus Harriet Stuck Miles Marcus Henry Marcus and John Marcus & unto their heirs and assigns forever of if my said wife should marry again it is my will that the two thirds of my estate real and personal to be given up as afs.d should in like manner descend to and be equally divided among my said six children and their heirs and assigns.

Fifthly I do hereby nominate and constitute Lewis Conner as Executor to this my last will and testament, In Testimony whereof I do hereby set my hand and seal this 10 day of December 1831

      Boone County Court February Term 1833. This last will and testament of Matthew Marcus was produced in open Court and proven by the oath of C. Gaines and E. Vawter subscribing witnesses thereto and thereupon ordered to be recorded which is duly recorded.
