I hereby Certify that some time in the month of May 1796 as well as I recollect Capt Benjamin Johnson applied to me to lay him off 1000 acres of Land out of Edmd Vaughn's survey on the waters of Woolper and Gunpowder, which I did he then sold me the land 400 acres at a dollar per acre with a short credit & 600 acres at ten shillings per acre with a longer credit. and that the 400 acres was sold by Vaughans direction . Given under my hand this 12th day of August 1797Cave Johnson
