Comment from Lila: We'll have half the players start on each course, then switch courses. These courses are about a mile apart so we will drive from one to the other. Joyce and I went over to try out these courses recently. We found both of them to be suitable for our purposes and couldn't decide which one to bok, so we decided to use both of them - neither one too difficult for beginners - NO sand traps, NO water but still challenging enough. Especially Serenity where there are trees, trees, trees and more trees. We had lots of laughs as we played both courses and that is reason enough to hold the tournament there. The scenery at French River is magnificent - hard to concentrate on your swing when you are more tempted to admire the gorgeous setting.

We didn't want to book a big busy course, nor anything too expensive. They are giving us a group rate of $10 or nine holes or $15 for eighteen. Club rentals are only $3. Low rates also for carts and/or pull carts.

These courses are designed specifically for family fun so no one need feel intimidated. Doesn't even matter if you've never before held a golf club - just come and have fun. We will be playing "Best Ball" anyway.

For Non-Golfers

There is a beautiful beach at French River, as well as a lighthouse. So we are thinking that non-golfers can enjoy the beach, explore - do whatever. Then we can all meet at the beach for a picnic lunch with everyone taking box lunches. If the tide is right, we might have a sandcastle building contest? The thing is that each one can do whatever pleases him/her - golf, swim, build castles, read a book, sleep... Whatever turns your crank.

Evening

How does a pot-luck barbecue sound? Sorry, we will not be able to have a lobster boil this time, but if anyone chooses, lobster can be purchased on the wharf in Summerside for approximately $9 to $10 per pound. Prices vary depending on the date and since we will be between seasons at the time, can be expensive.

We will have three barbecues in use and maybe a couple of portable ones.

Evening campfire. Come prepared with stories, skits, etc. We'll have a sing-song. Joyce's daughter Kate is working on a big drama production, but hasn't decided whether it will be Saturday or Sunday night, and whether it will be at the McKinnon cottage or here.

Sunday, August 6

Church service in Bedeque at 11:15 am.

"Stuff" happens in the afternoon - not sure what yet.

You may want to go exploring on your own, or to the beach. May have on-site games - horseshoes, etc. - and games for the younger ones. Suggestions welcome. We may have our own version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire". Laughs guaranteed!

No special arrangements for supper - may have pot -luck again.

Monday, August 7

No plans - only goodbyes. Anyone who does not have to leave is most welcome to stay as long as you wish.
