2002
Well the field trialling is well under way again in 2002. We have been relatively lucky with Luke picking up his first challenge, and Khan winning his fifth, and on the 1st of April, his magical 6th challenge which made him New Zealands 10th ever DUAL CHAMPION labrador. Lara has continued on with her placings with three second placings so far. (April 2002).

Fitz (Bonnybracken Captain Sean (by Burnley On Target from CH Jetsun Delta Dawn QC) has had success in the show ring this year - picking up five challenges so far. With only two challenges to go before he gets his Champion title, and no more shows until July, we hope he can remember the winning formula until then.

2001
2001 was a relatively quiet year Labby wise. Our dogs performed with merit at Field Trial Championships, with the team picking up many placings between them, but only three wins. Delta won the limit in Christchurch at Easter (limit is the grade before open - no challenges in this grade) and now is only able to compete in the open grade. Back to Christchurch again for the weekend of 30 June and 1 July, and Khan managed a third in the All Breeds (hunting trial) and he won the Retriever, with Heidi picking up second place. In September at our home ground it was Khan winning in the Retriever again, and this time his son Luke managed to take second place. The New Zealand Championships were also hosted by our home Club and Gary and Khan managed to finish in third place in the New Zealand All Breeds. Off to Christchurch again at the end of November. Our team performed very will, but not quite well enough. Khan again did best winning an award for the top dog of the weekend with a second in the All Breeds and a third in the Retriever, Lara managed to finish second in the Retriever, Heidi was fourth equal also in the Retriever, and Delta earned her QC in that same event. Luke was there but didn't perform up to the level that he is capable of.

Gary took time out in May to go Pheasant shooting in the Auckland area with his friend Dave Murray. Dave and his wife Angela have the Sandford Kennels at Tuakau, about half an hour south of Auckland. They have recently achieved a major coup in Labrador breeding, having bred a lovely bitch named Sandford Karakia. Kia now carries the title of CH and FTCH, being the first "dual" champion of the new Century. Kia is by NZCH Driftway Royal Salute from Khans litter sister Sandford Elles Belle. The last dual champion in the North Island in was some 20 years ago. Ron Irvines Mascot Rayners Game in the early 1990's was the last "dual" champion in the South Island. Hopefully Khan will add to that tally in the near future.

Delta spent five months back in Auckland with her breeders, Gordon and Margaret Wilson. She produced a litter for them, by a very nice black dog called CH Southerly Qwhite Xmas. This dog has a truly international pedigree, being sired by AM/CAN CH Chablais Barnswallow Rudolph, from NZ CH Southerly Expat. Southerly Expats four grandparents were all imported from the UK. Two puppies from Deltas first litter performed with merit in the show ring in 2001, both having won challenges. Chrissy Thompson from Napier has Bonnybracken Southern Belle, while Rhonda has been handling Bonnybracken Captain Sean on behalf of his owners.
