Intro to Latex

The (Not so) Short Introduction to LaTeX. This document is undoubtedly the best starting point for anyone trying to learn LaTeX.

Latex install

Planning to use LaTeX on Windows95/98/NT/2000/XP? The right place to get started is the "Miktex" project home page. Miktex is an implementation of Tex and related programs for the Windows(95/98/NT/2000/XP) based x86 machines. It is availabe for download (Yes, its FREE!) and the procedure for downloading/installing is described at this page. Miktex FAQ is availble here.
Editor? Yes, that is another major question. There many editors that you can use for editing latex documents. My favourite is Emacs. Other commonly used editors are Vim and WinEdt (Windows only). Whereas Emacs and Vim are Open-source softwares, WinEdt is not free-ware. You will be prompted to buy a license for it, if you intend to use it for more than 30 days.
