Morning Trees (acrylic, 1996)

Earth Eclipse (for Dr. Tony Phillips, NASA, 2001)
On the left is the piece. I thought it might be fun to show you the structure of it, so I documented that on the right. Structure is the set of visual rules applied to a piece to give it harmony. I'm using golden rectangles and fibonacci series (generates a spiral) for the order and some simple parallel diagonals for the action. On the left is the color pallette. It's a known as a "related" color scheme, because all the colors are from the same section of the color wheel. There's another component of structure often called "rhythm," which I satisfied by repeating small dots (as stars and sun glints) throughout.
