"Change of Plans"
by: Jason C. Newton

Waiting quietly in her room
having thoughts of wicked doom . . .
She used to cry every night,
can't get his face out of sight.

She gradually began to grow immune
whistling to a morbid tune.
Holding the blade within her hands
she thinks it's time for a change of plans.

No longer will she be the one to cry,
one of them will have to die.
She's known the pain far too long . . .
She continues to whistle a desperate song.

She hears footsteps in the hall
time has come to end it all.
Silently he opens the door,
"Hello daughter, I've come back for more."

He caresses her tear-stained cheek.
She knows what it is he seeks.
Quickly he unzips his pants . . .
just in time for a change of plans.

Swiftly she makes the stab
His wicked life her blade did grab.
She begins to convulse in tears . . .
ended her suffering of many years.

She did not want to kill her dad . . .
what had she done that was so bad?
She only wanted to stop the pain
not see her father's blood flow like rain.

Her tears stop before too long.
Again she starts to sing her song . . .
Time, it seemed, to stop its sand . . .
silently waited for her change of plans.
