| "A Fall from Grace" by: Jason C. Newton Dreams of an angel In the twilight dark. Long dark hair flowing While she dances in the park. Her eyebrow slightly cocked A curious smile playing on her lips. She blows smoke from a cigarette That I have just lit. There's a spark in her eyes As she lets out a laugh, Like a little secret of hers That I can't quite grasp. She asks me what I think About her and her thoughts, Like mermaids, leprechauns and fairies While I slowly connect the dots. I want to know her Her dreams, fears... anger and doubt. Behind her laid-back demeanor I see her true self-striving to get out. And I wonder if she can see my shadows, The things that live within. Will she hold my hand through darkness? So that her light may shine in... And if there is one thing that I could wish It would be for one dance. A dance so slow under the stars, I'd give my life for this chance. I lean against a tree to watch her dance Admiring her beauty in time. There will never be enough words To express my love in this rhyme. |
