| I have always been an avid reader and prolific writer. My writing began in primary school when I spent my recess money to buy scribblers to write stories in, and continues to accumulate on scraps of paper and computer discs. Life has been an education for me and continues to be a learning experience. Aside from my administrative and computer support diplomas, I have also earned a diploma in "Writing for Magazines" from the Institute of Children's Literature, West Redding, CT. Some of my work has been published in such publications as Reflections, Good Tidings, Downhomer, Christmas in the Country, I Love Cats Magazine, Word (WANL Newsletter), FellowScript, 53 North, Voices of Labrador, Them Days , The Salt and Light, and A Celebration of Poets. As well as writing a bi-weekly feature column called InterView for The Labradorian newspaper for a year, I have had a song recorded and several commentaries and selections of poetry aired on CBC Radio. Currently, I edit a quarterly newsletter called The Auxiliary News for the Labrador Health Care Auxiliary. In 2006 and again in 2009, The Auxiliary News won first place in a national competition for the "100 bed and under category" with the Canadian Hospital Auxiliaries Association. As well, I edit a semi-annual newsletter called The Auxiliary Link for the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Health Care Auxiliaries. I also write a regular column called That's Life, for Labrador Life magazine, contribute to other publications, and have several other works in progress. I have been an invited speaker for church services, Women's Groups and emcee for banquets. I am a member of The International Society of Poets, InScribe Christian Writer's Fellowship, and Writers' Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador. |
