Performing Train Drivers

There is a train driver in Boston who gives commentaries as he drives. He not only announces the name of the station as the train stops, but tells passengers what side of the train the door will open. While the train is running the driver tells everyone how fast they are going (eg 30 miles per hour) and whether they are above ground or below ground. He also tells passengers to wave and smile at passengers who were too late to get on the train before the doors closed. He says he does this because the job is boring and talking helps him stay awake. “After all, who wants a sleeping driver?” he adds.
Then there is another driver in Chicago who sings as he drives. He sings loudly and melodiously. His employers don’t mind because many people take his train just to hear his singing. This driver says he is not really good enough to be a professional singer but drives a train so he has a captive audience. This man is lucky, he can make a living doing what he likes to do.
