People who attends international meetings find that the

amount of space humen like to have around them

varies acording to culture. A Brazilian, for example,

will probably to stand very close to a Canadian when

talking to him. The latter may feel not comfortable and

go back away. The former might then conclude that

Canadian are unfriendly. An experienced traveller

soon learns that it is not a question of friendliness

or politeness; it is simply a matter of different cultural

attitudes towards the personal space.
