Why are letters on an English keyboard arrange so strangely? The frequently used letter A is on far left, while rarely used J and K is near the middle. It has estimated that the left hand, which is most peopl's weaker one, does over 50% of the work. One theory is that this was designed to slow down 19th century typists such that they would not jam keys. Whatever its original, it is probably here to stay; the cost of changing almost the world's computer keyboards cannot imagine. |
