How to 11: Speed games

Snap

1. This is a simple card game of luck and speed.
2. Any number can play.
3. Shuffle the cards.
4. Deal them out face down.
5. Pick up the cards but don't look at them.
6. One by one, each player lays down one card face up.
7. If there are two cards of the same number, shout "SNAP".
8. The first person to shout picks up all the cards.
9. When you have no cards left, you are out.
10. The winner is the player who gets all the cards.


Hyakunin isshu

1. Hyakunin isshu is a collection of one hundred five-line poems.
2. It is also a card game often played at new year by any number of players.
3. Each poem has two cards.
4. One card has the whole poem printed on it.
5. The other card has only the last two lines printed on it.
6. The cards with only the last two lines are laid down face up on a table.
7. Someone reads out a poem from the whole poem cards.
8. The players try to be first to grab the matching card with only the last two lines.
9. The winner is the one with the most cards.
