Sheryl Crow: Rockin' the Globe Live

Editor's Take

Woodstock '99 was the second time we have seen Sheryl perform. By the time she played Woodstock, Sheryl Crow had shut up many of the critics who doubted that she would amount to much after the "Tuesday Night Music Club" release.

We had the fortune of seeing Sheryl play one of the first shows in a touring schedule that didn't stop for close to  2 years. It was during her performance while touring with "Another Roadside Attraction - 97" - An 8 city summer tour across Canada and the northeast of the USA featuring The Tragically Hip, Sheryl Crow, Ashley MacIsaac, Wilco, Los Lobos, Change of Heart, The Mutton Birds, Ron Sexsmith, and Van Allen Belt.

Her second album "Sheryl Crow" was recently released and the Walmart overreaction was heating up about the time the tour started. It was during Highgate, VT show on 7/26/97 that I realized Sheryl Crow was not going to be a flashing pop star as some predicted or that the Walmart overreaction would mean nothing to her career. She displayed a talented gift for musicianship and performing. I believe I counted 5 or 6 different instruments that she played masterfully along with her excellent voice. If your first viewing of a live performance came at Woodstock or Central Park, I encourage you to check out future shows on a less grand scale to really get a sense of her true musicianship.
