My first contact with Omar and the Howlers' work came in the late 80's when I bought "Hard Times in the Land of Plenty" - advertised "..unique style of Texas Blues..". Omar and the Howlers put together a high potency hybrid of Texas and Mississippi Blues - heavy on guitar and purpose for the songs. Visit their homepage or click on a title to listen to their works.
Omar and the Howlers spend most of their time in Texas, the midwest or in Europe where they have developed a strong following. Omar "Kent Dykes" is an excellent songwriter/performer/musician. I spoke briefly with Mr. Dykes following their show at the Dinosaur and he said they hadn't come this far north in over 10 years. I am thankful for having the opportunity to see the show. Omar and his Howlers are true Journeymen and I encourage all to seek out their work and live performances.
Gary Primich played with Omar on previous works and is truely a Harpmaster. We had the opportunity to see him perform with Omar and hope to see him again at the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Syracuse, NY on 6/6/00.
